We need additional help to feed our children. Each growing season it costs over $4,000 New Zealand Dollars to feed our 172 children. It sounds a lot but when you divide the cost to the number of children it is $24 a child over a four month period.
That equates to 3 meals a day . No junk food , no KFC McDonalds, Subway etc….it is a diet in addition to Maise Porridge….. vegetables ….Short beans, climbing beans, Irish potatoes, cabbage , peas , spinach , sorghum and sweet potatoes. It is not luxury living ….it is surviving ….just.
We need to plant in a very small time frame and the time is now…..
Within that cost is paying a minimum of 6 women ( they are the best workers ) who will weed, plant water and generally care for these precious crops ….being paid $2.00 ( not a misprint ) an hour in hard physical work.
So for new readers and readers who feel moved to help ….can we ask for you to donate whatever you can spare…..it would be extremely appreciated.
We need to plant in August …it is currently a wet season and timing is everything.
