Current Projects

Make My Name Count works in two areas of Uganda: Kakuuto in the South and Kabale in the West. Learn about two of our current projects below.

KAKUUTO BAKEHOUSE

The town of Kakuuto in South-West Uganda is one of the most impoverished areas in the world. In 2022, 20% of female and 14% of male youth were unemployed. Make My Name Count successfully built a bakehouse in 2016, employing 18 staff. This micro-enterprise is only the beginning of our mission to reduce unemployment in the local community.

ORPHANAGE OF HOPE

The Orphanage of Hope is home to 172 children on the outskirts of Kabale in South Western Uganda. In 2018, Make My Name Count partnered with the local community to develop the welfare of the children at this orphanage. Child sponsorship has provided many children with clothing, bedding and medication; additionally, the 8-hectare property stands to grow nutritious food for the Orphanage of Hope community.

Safe and Secure ....

What started as a " Would like to have" ...that turned into a "Must Have " is finally finished and I must say it is really magnificent!!! I am talking about " The Great Wall " that encloses our Hope Education Centre ...all 2.5 Acres of it. If you have followed the walls progress in previous blogs , you would have appreciated the incredible amount of work to finally reach the point where we can say .."it is now finished " . Having a secure school to protect close to 200 ....
